Trails & Parking Study
Executive Summary
The Morris Trails & Parking Study Action Plan is a guide for making it safer and easier to walk, bike, and get around Morris. It is based on ten months of community outreach, crash data, and field visits. The Plan turns what residents said they needed into concrete projects, policies, and a realistic timeline. It is designed to be used by City staff, elected officials, residents,
businesses, and partner organizations over time.
More than 384 residents responded to the community survey. The planning team also held workshops, stakeholder meetings, and pop-up booths at the Corn Festival, Cruise Night, and 3 French Hens Market, and recorded two episodes of the More to Morris podcast. Across all of these conversations, residents repeatedly pointed to Route 47 and US 6 as the most dangerous places to walk or bike in Morris. They also raised concerns about missing
sidewalks, poor lighting, a lack of bike parking, and the difficulty of getting from their neighborhood to schools, parks, and downtown safely.
