PUBLIC NOTICE Notice of Public Meeting
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), District 3 office, is continuing a preliminary engineering and environmental study for the improvement of U.S. Route 6 beginning west of Ashton Road and extending east to Illinois 47, over two miles. An in-person public information meeting will be held to inform the public about the project and provide stakeholders with an opportunity to submit feedback.
The study aims to provide all roadway users with a safe and efficient transportation facility. Reconstruction of U.S. Route 6 will include drainage and safety improvements, ADA and bicycle accommodations, alignment changes and reconstruction of U.S. Route 6 to provide two lanes in each direction. IDOT has prepared a draft environmental document supporting a Categorical Exclusion (CE) for the project in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969.
Additional Right of way and easements will be required throughout the project. Right of way acquisition and relocation assistance information will be available as required by the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Regulations for Federal and Federally Assisted Programs, 49 CFR 24.
All interested persons are invited to attend and participate and project team members will be available to receive input, provide information, and answer questions. During the public meeting, attendees will be provided with an overview of the project, learn about project updates and provide feedback on the proposed improvements and alternatives. This public engagement activity will be in an open house format and includes a pre-recorded presentation played on a
loop and exhibit boards to view. Attendees may come at any time during the time outlined below. Comment sheets can be submitted in person, electronically or mailed to the project team. All meeting materials will be available on the project website.
