Trash Removal

Residents of the City of Morris are serviced by Republic Services of Joliet. Republic Services has provided each home with a 95 gallon garbage toter. In order to ensure the best possible service, please read the following information outlining our program.

HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE

All household garbage is to be placed out for pick-up by 6:00am on your regular pick-up-day each week. Household trash should be placed inside the toter provided by Republic Services. Additional items will be taken; please place additional garbage and any bulk items next to your toters on your pick up day.

RECYCLING

Republic Services has provided each home with a 65 gallon recycle toter. All recycling should be places out for pickup by 6:00 a.m. every other week.

It is important that you do not contaminate your recyclables with trash. If contamination is present, a sticker will be placed on your toter notifying you of the contamination and the toter will not be dumped.

YARD WASTE

A ‘Yard Waste Only’ sticker should be placed on your old, 69 gallon, trash toter in order for it to be used for yard waste. The purchase of biodegradable bags will no longer be necessary if you use the old toter with the sticker attached to it. Yard Waste Stickers may be picked up at the City Clerk’s office during regular business hours, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

Should your regular pick-up day fall on or after one of the following holidays, your pick-up will be delayed one day for that week only:

New Years Day
Memorial Day
July 4th
Labor Day
Thanksgiving
Christmas

WHITE GOODS

As of January 1, 2011 the State of Illinois enacted a new law prohibiting white goods and electronics from being disposed of in landfills. Items which fall under the classification of “white goods” include: refrigerators, freezers, ranges, water heaters , air conditioners, humidifiers and other similar domestic and commercial large appliances.
